Here I share my thoughts on a variety of things, especially food and drink around the city.
Particularly, I enjoy exploring Toronto's diverse neighborhoods and trying out restaurants and cafes.
I also write a fair bit about my thoughts on computers, programming, and automation.

uv is an incredible tool for the python ecosystem, and the work being done at Astral on improving type-checking/lsp (ty), linting/formatting (ruff), and (of course) package management makes me fairly excited to work in Python.
Commonly, many amateur Python users are in the following two camps:
- pip install global dependencies
- jupyter notebook kernels
I believe a majority of these bad habits come from using online platforms where users never had to think about dependency management (like Google Cobaloratory ) as well as simple ignorance among users who rely on others to troubleshoot their system when they run into issues.

“after a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relations”
I’ve been to a bunch of places around Toronto and the GTA, so I’ll start backfilling them based on how much I remember, and how much I liked them.
If you’re looking for a particular place I recommend checking out the map page, since there’s a cuisine selector and you can browse around to find places near you.

“The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.”
I’ve migrated this site from my previous domain (skillissue.cc) to a new subdomain I managed to buy (d.ibanescu.ca), and I’m excited to rebuild this blog step-by-step.
I wasn’t really motivated to write a lot of content previously, so I’m going to try to write a bit about the places I’ve tried to eat at around the city, since I already maintain a google maps list and talk about food and drink a bunch.
